How does Kuppa's energy model work?
Kuppa's Energy Model is based on the principles of the UK Government’s Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP), but customised to how the home is used in real life. Based on this 'actual' data, we create a virtual Energy Model of the home, which reveals where heat is going and which measures will be most effective, based on the household's priorities.
How accurate is Kuppa's energy model?
Kuppa's factors in the widest spectrum of data sets to produce a robust model with high confidence intervals. As with any model, its accuracy is constrained by the inputs, i.e. how much we know about the home and how it is occupied. Our team of industry experts developed Kuppa's model based on the latest insights in building physics.
What makes an energy model intelligent?
Kuppa's energy model takes data from different types of sources: public, professional, user-submitted and sensed. We choose peer-reviewed public data. The model can ingest actual data to improve accuracy. Kuppa's engineers model some data with matematical algorithms. In short, Kuppa's model predicts real-world outcomes.
How is Kuppa’s intelligence different from an EPC survey?
Retrofit surveys cost upwards of £500-800 per home and require a professional to visit in person. Kuppa’s platform enables businesses to give their customers a more thorough understanding of their home, without incurring the cost of the survey. What’s more, Kuppa recommends options based on your their household's preferences.
What information do households need to provide to get personalised recommendations?
The customer tool needs to supply Kuppa's model with a few simple inputs. If the home has an EPC rating, Kuppa only needs to ask: how many people live at home, and if any extensions have been done since the EPC.
If the home doesn't have an EPC rating, Kuppa asks for information about the windows, house type, wall type, number of bedrooms, and property age band. It is optional to provide a budget for the upgrades.
Whether or not an EPC is available, Kuppa can be set up to ask for more information. The more information the model imputes, the more personalised the recommendations are.
